‘it was a fantastic day, thank you again for helping us celebrate’
Trevor and Sue, Eastwood Hall, 23rd June 2023
It was a tremendous privilege to be part of Trevor and Sue’s wedding day celebrations at the fantastic Eastwood Hall recently. I have been very fortunate to have entertained guests at this lovely venue many times over the years, and it is always great to return.
I was delighted when Trevor and Sue asked me to provide close-up magic during the drinks reception and table magic throughout the wedding breakfast. This is a superb period to entertain all of the guests, and magic really helps to liven things up and bring everyone together before the evening revelries begin.
It truly was a very magical day at Eastwood Hall, and thank you again to the lovely Trevor and Sue for investing your trust in me. The newlyweds’ family and friends were a real pleasure to mingle with and entertain.
Congratulations again to Trevor and Sue!

‘we must never forget that all the time, night after night, month after month, our bomber squadrons travel far into Germany, find their targets, often under the heaviest fire, often with serious loss, with deliberate, careful discrimination, and inflict shattering blows upon the whole of the technical and war-making structure of the Nazi power’
Sir Winston Churchill (British Prime Minister 1940 – 1945, 1951- 1955)
The International Bomber Command Centre, located close to the centre of Lincoln, is a poignant memorial to all those brave men and women who served our country in order to secure the freedoms we enjoy today. Make sure you visit this exceptional venue the next time you are in Lincolnshire.
I have friends and family members who have served in the Royal Air Force, British Army and Royal Navy. The Memorial Garden at the centre is a fitting tribute to the ultimate sacrifice of our air personnel. The Memorial Spire is the UK’s tallest war memorial standing at 102 feet tall – the same length as the wingspan of the Lancaster Bomber. There is a definite presence of the fallen when walking in the garden, and their names are inscribed in this fitting memorial.
Lincolnshire has enjoyed a long and celebrated history with the Royal Air Force. My uncle – who served in the RAF – was stationed here prior to his tour of duty in Cyprus. The imposing edifice of Lincoln Cathedral served as a navigational beacon for RAF pilots during World War II, and it is fitting that this beautiful landmark can be viewed from the Memorial Spire of the International Bomber Command Centre.
The exhibition at the centre is highly informative, and serves as an exceptional educational resource for younger generations. We are taken on an unforgettable journey into wartime Europe, and the extreme dangers faced by the RAF air crews during this period are potently revealed. I consider myself extremely fortunate to have grown up in a time of peace; which was secured for my generation by the bravery and sacrifice of those who lived during the horrors of World War II.
The Lancaster Bomber is perhaps best known for the daring raid by 617 Squadron on the German dams in May 1943. The famous ‘Bouncing Bomb’ developed by Sir Barnes Neville Wallis has become part of British folklore, and inflicted a severe blow to the Nazi war machine. The Lancaster Bomber and the bravery of the ‘Dambusters’ pilots have also been immortalised in film, literature and popular culture.
Another extraordinary story about the Lancaster Bomber is the legendary account of Nicolas Alkemade whose aircraft came under attack over Germany in 1944. He fell 18,000 feet from his plane without a parachute and lived to tell the tale! Read about this fascinating wartime anecdote here: The Story of Nicolas Alkemade.
The International Bomber Command Centre boasts a fantastic gift shop which offers an extensive array of memorabilia. The restaurant is exceptional and provides high quality snacks and meals throughout the day. Indeed, the centre is an excellent choice of location for parties, corporate events, presentations and educational excursions.
I was tremendously privileged to perform magic for SERCO during their Christmas party at the centre in December 2022. It is always fantastic to visit, and I heartily recommend that you support International Bomber Command Centre, Lincoln and ensure that the memory of our brave air force personnel endures.
‘It was a massive privilege for us to have you share the day! Dean wouldn’t have had anyone else.’
Annie and Dean, The Sitwell Arms Hotel, Renishaw. 21st May 2022
It was truly fantastic to entertain Annie, Dean and all their friends and family at the Sitwell Arms in May this year. I was very fortunate to meet the lovely couple at Nick and Beth’s wedding at Stubton Hall in 2019, and I was very flattered that they decided to call upon my services for their own special day.
Annie and Dean requested that I entertain everyone during their early evening reception. The period from the end of the wedding breakfast until the first dance is perfect for a close-up magician to circulate freely with the guests.
It was a pleasure to perform card magic, sleight-of-hand, classic illusions and mind-reading routines for all age groups. Annie and Dean’s friends and family were a joy to mix with, and it was fantastic to receive such a tremendous reaction.
We were blessed with excellent weather on the wedding day, so I was able to mingle freely with the guests in the garden area and terrace to the rear of this superb wedding venue.
The outstanding Bailey Lonsdale Photography were Annie and Dean’s chosen lensmen for the day, and it was a pleasure to work alongside these consummate professionals. The wonderful photographs in this blog article highlight how they can expertly capture all those very special moments on a wedding day perfectly. Many thanks to Annie and Dean for kindly sharing these images, and you can find out more about Bailey Lonsdale Photography at: www.baileylonsdale.com
It was a wonderful day at the Sitwell Arms, and thank you again to Annie and Dean for inviting me to be part of such a special occasion. Congratulations again to the lovely couple!

In the extraordinary world of magic, mystery and illusion, Marc Oberon needs no introduction. The worthy winner of a dazzling array of magical accolades, Marc has been mesmerising audiences across the world for the past four decades. In 2009 Marc was crowned the FISM World Champion of Close-Up Magic and – at the time of writing – he remains the only magician from the British Isles who has been presented with this most prestigious and much coveted award.
Entertainer, innovator, motivator, artist, teacher… Marc Oberon is a rare talent indeed! As a magician, Marc possesses the incredible ability to amaze audiences both large and small. His stunning stage show is often enjoyed by television audiences, cruise ship passengers and private parties alike. Indeed, Marc’s natural ability to captivate, and form a strong rapport with people from all walks of life, is truly outstanding.
As well as Marc’s theatrical production of magic, mentalism and illusion, he frequently delivers his sensational UV or ‘Black Art’ show. It truly has to be seen to be believed! My good friend Colin Pearson – who is a sound and lighting engineer in Blackpool – witnessed this incredible visual spectacle and stated that it was quite simply one of the finest and most unique performances he had ever experienced.
In 2010 I was immensely fortunate to meet Marc, and he very kindly agreed to assist me with the development of my overall magical performance. At that time, I was performing at pubs, clubs and private events around the Midlands, but I was anxious to improve my act. Marc’s passion, enthusiasm and dedication to the magical art would have a profound and lasting impression upon me. His attention to detail, encyclopaedic knowledge of the art, exceptionally high standards, and seemingly interminable patience would take my show to a whole new level. Marc taught me self-awareness as a magician – and to always be mindful and understanding of my audience – and for this help I will be eternally thankful.
Sleight-of-hand, mentalism, illusion, card magic and presentation were all addressed by Marc, and he also helped me to prepare thoroughly for my entrance exam to the Magic Circle. It is always very daunting for any magician to be assessed by his or her peers, but Marc gave me the confidence to deliver my performance at the headquarters of the world’s most prestigious magical society in London. I am sure that he was just as satisfied as I was when I passed – having helped me to develop and improve my overall delivery!
There is no end to Marc’s incredible talent, and he has created a multitude of exciting magical effects and written extensively on this wonderful art-form. He has been a great inspiration to many magicians across the globe, and his contribution to the magical community is exemplary. You can explore Marc’s extensive selection of products at: Marc Oberon Magic Shop.
Marc is available for cruise work, special occasions, consultancy work and teaching sessions. Find out more about him at: Marc Oberon Website

Sophie and Chris, Shustoke Barn, Coleshill, 19th April 2022
What a tremendous day it was; celebrating the lovely Sophie and Chris’s wedding at Shustoke Barn, Coleshill in April of this year. The wedding had been delayed several times due to the pandemic, so it was fantastic to see everyone enjoying themselves at this exceptional Warwickshire venue!
Sophie and Chris asked me to entertain their guests during the period between the wedding breakfast and first dance. This is a great time to engage friends and family, and I was also able to provide both Bride and Groom with a special magical routine as well.
If you play with me, then you play with fire! The superb Damian Burcher was on hand to capture all of the action on the big day – and he never missed a beat – expertly photographing all those very special moments. It was very kind of Damian, Sophie and Chris to allow me to display these fantastic photographs on my blog!
Performing close-up magic and table magic for Sophie and Chris’s guests was a pleasure and a privilege. I was delighted to be able to provide my full repertoire of effects which includes: card magic, classic illusions, sleight-of-hand and psychological entertainment. ‘Mix and Mingle Magic’ is versatile, and is always a big hit on wedding days!
I know what you’re thinking… It’s always magnificent to perform mind-reading effects on a wedding day! This form of magic always leaves the audience speechless and has a very profound impact. People who experience this phenomenon will talk about it for years to come, and it is very satisfying for me to deliver.
Congratulations Sophie and Chris! It truly was a magical day as the exquisite Shustoke Barn. I do hope to have the opportunity to entertain you all again in the future. Take care and best wishes. David Fox 🙂
Throughout the many months of preparation for the wedding day, Amelia managed to keep my inclusion a secret from Will – a fantastic feat of magic in itself! It was tremendous to see the look of surprise on the newlywed groom’s face when we met during the drinks reception period. Indeed, this was a great time to mingle freely with Will and Amelia’s family and friends: performing close-up magic in the enchanting environs of Stubton Hall.
Table magic throughout the wedding breakfast period was a marvellous privilege to perform. Amelia and Will’s guests were a fantastic group to entertain and it also provided an exciting opportunity to deliver some special routines for the top table. This is always great to do on a wedding day, particularly if the couple and close family have been engaged in group photo shots during the drinks reception period.
A very special thank you to Laura and Lee for keeping two predictions I made, and delivered to the venue two weeks prior to the wedding, securely locked up in the safe of Stubton Hall. These mysterious predictions had been sealed inside two envelopes and would later be magically revealed to Amelia and Will…
I also really appreciate Amelia and Will’s decision to share these fantastic photographs for this article. The exceptional Darren Creswell Photography did an outstanding job in capturing all those very special moments throughout the wedding day.
